Face To Face (Cara A Cara)

Earlier this year I made a trip to Oregon. While I was there, I finally got to meet a friend who I'd been corresponding with for the last couple of years. It was so fun to meet her in person! We sat and talked for hours. It felt like hanging out with a friend, while at the same time getting to know her for the first  time.

The next day I reflected on what a joy it was to spend time with her in person - to hear her voice, to see her facial expressions, to laugh together, and to be able to give her a hug.

And then I started crying...because I suddenly had a vivid understanding of what it will be like when we get to heaven.

We will see Jesus FACE to FACE!
We will hear His voice.
We will see His facial expressions.
We will laugh together.
And He will embrace us and hold us in His everlasting arms.

Does that bring tears to your eyes? If it does for you, like it does for me, I believe those are happy tears - tears of hope, of faith, of knowing that our experience with Jesus right now, though wonderful, is only a tiny preview of the indescribable joy we'll experience in heaven with Him!

Pause for a moment and let that hope and joy fill your thoughts.

The reason we have this hope is because of a very special event that we celebrate this week. It's because of Jesus' death on the cross and His victory over death when He rose from the grave, that we know one day we will see Him face to face.

"The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you.'" -Matthew 28:5-7 (NIV)

On Easter morning, Jesus' disciples were given a promise of seeing Jesus again after His resurrection - which they did. And for those of us who have believed in Jesus since then, He has promised us an eternity with Him - face to face.

"What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. What I know now is only partial; then it will be complete - as complete as God's knowledge of me." -1 Corinthians 13:12 (GNB)

I think seeing Jesus in heaven will be a lot like spending time with my best friend, yet getting to know Him like it's the first time. And I'm sure it will be even more amazing than anything I can imagine!

I pray this Easter we'll spend some sweet time with Jesus, and that He will refresh hope, faith, and joy in our hearts.

Blessed Easter my friends!
-Joanna

P.S. In these challenging days, let's keep reaching out to friends, family, and strangers who may be fearful, lonely, or worried. Jesus loves to express His care for others through us. And thank you for all you're doing to let people know they are seen, loved, and valued! I hope and pray many people will find Jesus in these days, especially as they see Him in us. God bless!

Cara A Cara

¡Veremos a Jesús CARA a CARA!

¡Dios bendiga!
